EVENT: 2015 Boston Marathon
I was born with juvenile macular degeneration, a hereditary eye condition that slowly deteriorates my central vision. I now have about 10% of the vision of a fully sighted person, but I haven't let that slow me down.
2015 will mark my 4th year racing the Boston Marathon as a member of the Massachusetts Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired's Team With A Vision, and over those four years the race has earned a special place in my heart. The crowds, the history, and the energy at the Boston Marathon is unlike any other race in the world.
In 2012, 2013, and 2014 I won first place in the Men's Visually Impaired Division at the Boston Marathon, racing a personal best in 2013 with a time of 2:44:32. I'm excited to return to Boston this April to once again show the world that "disability" does not mean "inability."
