EVENT: 2015 Boston Marathon
To my friends, family, and well-wishers,
Sometimes it really is true and there is only one chance at a goal. If you fail you can only say you tried, which is braver, though not more honest, than not trying at all.
But you can also succeed.
In April 2015, I'll be running the Boston Marathon for the sixth consecutive year in support of the Massachusetts Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired (www.mabcommunity.org). Over those six years, you have helped me raise $36,023 - something I never thought I could do - for this local organization that provides services to the blind, visually impaired, brain damaged, and developmentally disabled. My goal this year is to raise a cumulative six-year total of $50,000, or $13,977 for this training season. This is an embarrassingly difficult goal but if I wait until next year, it'll be gone. This is the year. Please help me get there. You can donate online or, you can send a check, made out to MAB, to me at my home address (email me at rustyblackbrd at yahoo dot com for my mailing address.)
This final day of 2014 finds me with one ten mile run remaining for the year, and closing in on week 3 of my 18-week training program. For the past two months I've worked on establishing a better base than in prior years, running 25-35 miles per week to get ready to train. Two long-ish runs of 12 and 13 miles are behind me, and a 14 miler is a few days away.
For those of you new to these emails, follow me here for the next 15 weeks; I've attached the 2013 and 2014 Boston reports so you know what you're getting into. :)
Wishing you peace, good health, and your own goals and victories for 2015.
