SOCCER PROM is designed to be a signature fundraising event for the Boys & Girls Club of Waynesboro, Staunton, & Augusta County. In addition to raising funds to support our mission to deliver premium after school and summer programming to youth, the event also serves as an opportunity for our organization to connect with the community we serve.
SOCCER PROM is an evening event of which the centerpiece is an exhibition soccer match between Team White and Team Blue, both composed of volunteer players from the community who fundraise for the club in the weeks leading up to the event. The players are dressed in “prom attire” with dresses, bow ties, suspenders, and team color sashes. This unique event concept debuted in 2014 raising more than $10,000 in its inaugural year as well as drawing a great deal of publicity including one local newspaper's front page cover story and two evening news broadcasts.
The Boys & Girls Club of Waynesboro, Staunton, & Augusta County operates 5 sites in the community:
Westwood Hills - Berkeley Glenn

Our Boys & Girls Club offers after school programming 5 days a week during the school year that includes academic enrichment and homework support, physical fitness and nutrition, a strings program in partnership with the Waynesboro Symphony Orchestra that provides violin instruction, and art instruction in partnership with Shenandoah Valley Art Center.
The Boys & Girls Club Summer Camp is a comprehensive summer program that runs 5 days a week, 11 hours a day, for 7 weeks. It also includes 2 meals and a snack for the youth in attendance. Programming features include field trips to zoos, parks, and museums on Fridays, as well as academic enrichment and fitness activities. Weekly trips to the swimming pool and bowling alley are supplemented by a partnership with the Waynesboro Generals baseball team that comes to do clinics as well as a tennis camp operated by National Junior Tennis League. The BGC summer camp also features field trips and programs as part of our partnership with Project Grows. The youth visit the farm, learn from the staff, and work with them on various projects that educate them on nutrition and agriculture.
We currently have waiting lists at some of our sites and are serving more youth than ever before. However, many of those we serve and need us most are from families that cannot afford such extensive programming for their children. We believe it is our mission to reach these youth and provide them access to the resources and programming they need in order to succeed and fuel their personal development. Through fundraising initiatives like Soccer Prom, the Club seeks to raise the funds to subsidize this opportunity for families in our community.
