I'm teaming up with my 3 lovely granddaughter's to walk 100 miles in March 2012 as part of a national effort to raise $100,000 dollars for the Prostate Cancer Foundation by joining Team Winter Million Mile March 2012!
It started many years ago when my husband was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer. At that time, there were very few treatments for the disease, so most men were optioned to leave it or remove the gland. This is what he chose to do, remove it and make it all go away, but it didn't all go away. And about 10 years later, problems started happening to his health again, and this time he was diagnosed with stage 4-T Bladder cancer, which had adheared to his pelvic bones. Surgery was performed and was given an Urostomy to attach at his stomach. He was with us, for just 11 months longer.
We went through Western Medicine and all too late, went for Alternative Medicine and he passed through the veil to the Spirit World on Hallowen of 2003.
Now 3 years ago, our oldest son was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer at he age of 57.
His Cancer is Prostate and Prostate Metastatic Bone Cancer. There have been numerous surgeries, treatments, infections, medications.......he is still with us and hanging on for dear life. He is now 59 years old.
Our oldest son prompted our younger son in December of 2010 to have a blood test PSA taken, which was abnormal. He too was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer, his age is 56. In February of 2011 he had his Prostate Gland removed by the less invasive Robot Surgery the "Di Vincci method".
That is our story briefly told, just to let you know, that we Memmott's are going to single out Prostate Cancer and help to make it as aware as Breast Cancer is, as it affects more men than statistics show. One in 6 men will develop Prostate Cancer in their lifetime. Yet, you rarely see Blue Awareness Ribbons.
Joining us on the Million Mile March meansby joining Team Winter, you walk 100 miles throughout the month of March and collect $100.00 in donations!
