EVENT: 2017 Boston Marathon
EVENT DATE: Apr 17, 2017
Dear Family and Friends,
With the holiday season officially upon us, I wanted to share some exciting news...I have decided to run the 2017 Boston Marathon! I'm thrilled to take part in this great Boston tradition, and have a training program lined up that will prepare me for the 26.2 mile course on April 16, 2017!
I have a very special reason for running this race. My father is visually impaired and was an avid runner in his younger years. I am honoring him while I train and begin this amazing journey.
I will also be running to raise money for the Massachusetts Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired, which is the non-profit organization that was founded in 1903. Originally named the Massachusetts Association for the Adult Blind, today MABVI is the oldest social service agency in the country providing services to individuals who are blind or visually impaired. Helen Keller served on our first advisory board, along with notable Bostonians Julia Ward Howe (author of "The Battle Hymn of the Republic") and Edward Everett Hale. MABVI’s mission is to work with individuals with vision loss to eliminate barriers and create opportunities.
I have watched the race at the base of Heartbreak Hill with Matt and the boys several times throughout the past few years and have been so inspired by all of those runners. It has been quite touching and a really cool family experience to cheer them on and provide support along with the thousands of other passionate fans. I am now humbly asking for your support…moral, inspirational and financial!
My goal is to raise $7,500 for the Foundation, and I would really appreciate your support! You can make a donation by visiting my Fundraising page:
