My childhood dream was to someday be a seamstress in an orphanage. For my ninth Christmas, my parents “sowed” into my dream and provided a Singer portable sewing machine which I still have. While I never became a seamstress in an orphanage, I have sewn for many causes and now have an opportunity to help those I couldn’t when I was nine.
I run for Team Woodside because it is an avenue to raise funds for rescuing, protecting, and providing for Orphans in Thailand (AKHA Refuges) thru Woodside Bible Church. Our courageous teams need resources to rescue those who have been abducted and to protect others from a similar fate. Once inside a safe environment, these children receive shelter, education, food, clothing, and health care – in addition to safety and self-esteem. Partnering with local Pastor John ensures that they will learn about Jesus, be taught English, and helped to develop the life skills necessary for them to prosper on their own.
My new short term goal is to run the 2016 Detroit Free Press Marathon with Team Woodside and I commit to raising both awareness and funding this orphanage which the Team supports. If you would “sow a seed” with me, I would be honored. Please help us help them.
