Paul Koczkodan Jr. wrote -I am running this years Detroit Free Press half marathon (13.1 miles) to help raise money for the AKHA light orphanage in Thailand. There is an estimated 1.4 million children in Thailand who have been orphaned. More than 900,000 school age children do not attend school of any kind. Due to the great need for orphan care in Thailand, Woodside has partnered with the Akha Light Foundation to help meet the needs of these children and most importantly, share the love of Jesus Christ with them. Through this partnership, Woodside has built an orphanage in Chiang Rai, and developed the Akha Light Orphan Sponsorship program. Through this Sponsorship program, you can provide a child with a safe place to live, clothing, three meals a day, a Christian education, health care, and so much more for only $32 a month. At this monthly support rate, it takes 10 sponsors to fully fund one Akha orphan for a year. Will you become one of these 10 sponsors and help give these children a brighter future? We give for the same reason we love. We know how to love because God first loved us (1 John 4:19). We give because God gave to us, long before asking us to give Him a dime in return. As a matter of fact, everything we have is from his vast resources (Psalm 24:1). Therefore, we give back, so others may know His love as well (Ephesians 4:28).
