19 Days and Counting!

I never thought I'd say this:
I missed running last year.
What did I really miss about it? The health benefits? The fresh air? The sense of accomplishment?
I'd have to say it was all of it. And yes, most definitely the accomplishments. There were many to speak of - crossing the finish line, losing weight, inspiring my family.
But the one accomplishment that stands out above all the rest is knowing that our team made a huge difference in the lives of 60 children and their caregivers in Thailand. Those children, and those who care for them at the orphanage, have seen the Love of God in their lives. They have felt firsthand the effects of your compassion. Most of them will never meet us this side of Heaven.
And that's OK.
But can you imagine what they will say if and when they do meet you? Let me say it on their behalf:
Thank you for making what you think of as a small contribution. That small gift will go a long way to providing shelter, food, clothing, education, and preparation for adulthood. In our relationship with this ministry we have seen many children "graduate" to college and the workforce.
Because you gave them a chance.
And so this year, I run again.
I run to lose the 25 lbs that found their way back these past 18 months.
I run to break the 2-hour barrier for the half marathon (Yep, "only" the half this year...).
I run to give kids in Thailand an opportunity to be all that God intended for them to be.
Come to think of it, maybe they've rescued me.
