One in five children in the Bay Area is affected by poverty. Headstand, established in 2008, has served some 5,000 children through classes taught as a mandatory part of the curriculum at public schools in San Francisco, Sunnyvale, and San Lorenzo. Headstand provides yoga and mindfulness classes as part of K-12 curriculum in low-income Bay Area schools. The yoga and mindfulness classes that Headstand provides have been shown to reduce stress and anxiety while improving self-esteem, readiness to learn, self-control, and focus. By participating in the Headstand Challenge, you’ll turn your personal yoga practice into service. Together we can reverse the toxic effects that stress has on young children.
To participate in the challenge, we ask that you raise a minimum of $500. We will be practicing together, as a community for 108 minutes at the following YogaWorks studios:
YogaWorks Walnut Creek, March 14, 12:30-2pm
YogaWorks Larkspur, March 14, 12:30-2pm
To inspire your donors, you can ask them to sponsor you for $1/minute, which means you’d only need five donors to participate! (You could also ask 10 donors to sponsor you for $.50/minute.)
