BENEFITING: ETHIOPIAN DIASPORA FELLOWSHIP
EVENT DATE: Aug 09, 2015
For the past few years, visiting Ethiopia after more than a decade of being in the US has been something I have really wanted to do. I decided 2015 was the year to go back to my roots and after having already getting my ticket to go back home as a tourist, I found out about a great opportunity to do service work in Ethiopia through EDF. The Ethiopian Diaspora Fellowship opportunity could not have come at a better time for me! Being chosen to be apart of the first ever EDF cohorts and getting the opportunity not only to go back to my homeland, but also serve in making a change in Ethiopia’s growth is something I am really excited to be apart of!
My focus for change has been aimed at youth and education, which is why I am so excited to work with my partner organization Selam Children’s Village, who’s goal is to “provide quality training, education, health services and agricultural products” to Ethiopian’s.
During the six months I will be in Ethiopia, my fellow cohorts and I will be leading, serving, and sharing our journey through creative storytelling in keeping with EDF’s mission. EDF is doing something I believe will really invest in Ethiopia’s growth in the long term and I want to ask you to be apart of this growth! My goal is to raise $750 in less than 3 weeks to support EDF and the journey I will be taking for the next six months! I have no doubt that we can make this happen together, and I am looking forward to sharing my journey in Ethiopia with you all!
