Hello everyone, thank you for visiting my fundraising page! As you may know, I have been training hard for my second marathon. What you may not know is that I am running the Twin Cities Marathon on behalf of Ethiopia Reads.
By supporting me, you will support the work of Ethiopia Reads in developing literacy for Ethiopian children. Ethiopia Reads collaborates with Ethiopian communities to build schools, plant libraries, teach teachers, boost literacy and provide youth and families with the tools to improve their lives.
Will Smith said, one of my all times favorite motivational quote. “The key to life is to READ and RUN”. This key to life is so true and has made a profound impact in my life. I am very fortunate to have the time, space and the resources to get to where I am in my life today. No matter how much how little you may think that you can give, together we can make a difference.
Ethiopia has the second highest population in Africa at 82,950,000. The population of ages 0-14 is 26.8%, or 22,230,600. 2,389,945 of those kids are not in school. Only 69.1% of females complete primary school. Only 75.3% of males complete primary school. Youth literacy is 44.6%. Adult literacy is 42%
This ranks them 195th in the world in adult literacy.
Please reach in to your hearts, your wallets and do what you can!
Here are a few suggested donation amounts:
$26 – A dollar for every mile i run!
$42 – A dollar for every kilometer I run!
Running for me is a way of life and it is also an honor to do it on behalf of Ethiopia Reads!
Thank you in advance for your support!
See you at the Finish line!
