TEECH (Transforming, Educating, & Empowering Children and Humanity) provides recovery support services for people who are new to recovery and have been addicted to alcohol and other substances. Teech has a 75% success rate and has severely reduced recidivism rates and increased job placement. Due to the State of Illinois' budget issues, TEECH has not received payments in 7 weeks. Our staff is no longer being paid and our clients are not receiving the same services that they received before the budget stalmate. Recovery cannot be put on hold. Individuals in recovery are youth ages 18-24, veterans, violent ex-offenders, and other ex-offenders. Approximately 75% of our clients within the last 3 months have become gainfully employed or have started their own business becoming contributing members of society. We want to continue providing these services, but we need your help. Our goal is to raise $10,000. Help people like Anna A. who received a scholarship from TEECH, changed her thinking, and is now working for CTA; or David B. who has started his own business.
Please help us with any amount that you can. It costs $20,000-$40,000 a year to house each prisoner. It costs a fraction of this amount to educate, train, and reconnect these individuals with their communities. Please help.
