BENEFITING: TESFA FOUNDATION
EVENT DATE: Sep 14, 2012
Early Friday morning, September 14, 2012, Dana Roskey, Executive Director of both the Tesfa Foundation and Ethiopia Reads, will join 11 other teammates to participate in Reach the Beach, a 200 mile running relay from the rugged mountains to the beautiful beaches of New Hampshire. This race continues day and night for over 30 hours of continuous leg pounding, bug swallowing fun until the final collapse at Hampton State Park late Saturday afternoon.
Dana will be in the #2 position (running legs 2, 14 and 26) which has been called “the brutal one” by previous Reach the Beach survivors. Fellow teammates, Meg O’Connor, Kristen Fudge, and Liz McGovern, will be there to cheer Dana on. In fact, Liz is in the #3 slot and will be anxiously waiting to see if Dana will make it to hand off the relay baton to her.
Dana is participating to support two causes very close to his heart- education and running.
One Moon Ethiopia has partnered with Ethiopia Reads to build a school in the Tembaro region ofsouthwestern Ethiopia. This school is expected to be built late 2013/early 2014. You can donate this worthy cause on a separate fundraising site here.
This Crowdrise page is in honor of the Tesfa Teen House- an integral part of the Tesfa Sport forDevelopment program. Tesfa's teen house was established in 2008 as an environment for four teens (ages 14-18) to have safe shelter and education, a chance to train and acquire the education and skills to make their lives better as adults, while they get to train with our running team, and -- more importantly --giving them an opportunity to live without fear. Check out photos the four Tesfa teens- Hiwot, Fantu, Asnaku, and Bekelu- on this Crowdrise page. We love these girls!!
Please donate! Our goal is to raise $2000 to help cover costs of rent and school fees. Thank you!!
