As you may know I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in 2004. It has been a rough road to say the least but by the Grace of God I am holding on to broken pieces! I have good days and bad days but NEVER pain-free days and that is what I am praying for! Many know my struggles but most don't. I can't twist lids off of jars, I can not raise my hands over my head for any extended periods of time, I take many medications daily just to make it through the day, it hurts like heck when people hug me tightly, weather changes turn my body into a disrespectful creature and most importantly loved ones don't understand that just because I was able to function yesterday does not mean I can do it today!
The Caterpillar Walk program is a fundraising campaign designed to raise awareness and support for Fibromyalgia and Chronic Pain. 100% of proceeds raised will support education, advocacy and research efforts.
One of the greatest challenges of this syndrome is the lack of awareness and visibilty, as a result the National Fibromyalgia and Chronic Pain association has launched this year's theme: Your Voice Matters, YOU make Fibromyalgia Visible. Your participation in this walk will help us make Fibromyalgia visible.
While many walks have taken place across the country to support our work, this is the 1st annual walk in NYC. Our goal is to help bring the Fibromyalgia and Chronic Pain community together.
The NYC Caterpillar Walk will take place on Saturday May 9th.
