My name is Joshua Adjei and I'm a proud product of a public schools in a few different settings. I attended a public elementary school in the Bronx (where I grew up) and alternated between public school in the Bronx and boarding school in Ghana for middle school and high school. As a child I found an interest in the sciences that progressed over the years . I recently obtained my degree in Biological Sciences from Cornell University and will be attending Weill Cornell Medical School this upcoming fall as an MD candidate. Growing up, my family was very supportive and education was a very important part of my upbringing. The earlier part of college had its challenges but at the peak of them all was the feeling of being late to learn certain things or know about opportunities that everyone else seemed to have learned or known about much earlier in their educational trajectories. Through guiding organizations, resourceful mentors and progressive peers, I covered certain gaps in my knowledge I had accumulated throughout my early education.
I really believe an early educational support provides an individual with a special framework that paves a path to self actualization. However, I also believe there is a critical period when an education gives the individual the opportunity to really get the most out of life. PMP is getting to kids during this critical period ,and is helping to close the academic and social gaps present amongst NYC youth. Through your donation, we will have the opportunity to make a difference in the life of a child and a chance to invest in a more perfect future.
