My name is Lauren Bell and I grew up being told education was the path to success. My parents are both college professors and failing in school was not an option. Although I struggled with geometry and integrated science, I fell in love with social studies and reading stories from the past. I found that I had a knack for making history interesting—from the fun projects I created to the engaging papers I could write about the minutest detail in history. This passion led me to study history at Vassar College and eventually teach high school history in underprivileged areas of the Bronx and Harlem. I found I could make history come alive and even the most sleepy kid would sit up straight in my classes. Finding a passion in school encouraged me to find a career path that aligned to that passion.
