BENEFITING: TENACITY INC
ORGANIZER: TENACITY INC
EVENT: 2015 Boston Marathon
EVENT DATE: May 09, 2015
Dear Friends and Family,
I am absolutely stoked to run the 2015 Boston Marathon for an AWESOME charity, Tenacity, Inc. and I am asking for YOUR help! I will not only be running the Boston Marathon, but also have agreed to raise $5000 in support of Tenacity.
Tenacity is an incredible organization located in East Boston. Their mission is to improve the scholastic, character and physical development of urban youth by combining tennis instruction and academic support with a focus on life skills. This will be Tenacity’s 3rd year participating in the Boston Marathon as a Boston Athletic Association Charity Team. The team has raised $300,000 since 2013 and our goal is to exceed a total of $400,000 by this year’s race on April 21st 2015. They have been absolutely crushing it these past years! (their website is: www.tenacity.org, please visit to read more about them!!)
Tenacity’s Pathway to Post-Secondary Success is designed to impart the skills and resilience needed for under-served youth to succeed in school and life.
Tenacity's school-year programs serve at-risk urban students in Boston with our:
Elementary Program - teaching tennis to 4th and 5th graders.
Middle School Academy - our core program - literacy tutoring, homework help, tennis instruction and team tennis competition, high school selection, family engagement.
College Prep - seeing our MSA students through high school to earning their diplomas and applying to college or pursuing other approved post secondary endeavors.
Alumni Services - staying active with our community of graduates - helping them stay in college, finding jobs, reaching successful adulthood.
Tenacity's summer programs serve youth in Boston:
Summer Tennis & Reading Program in Boston serving over 5,000 youth with a fitness and literacy program that keeps kids active and occupied during summer recess.
Making this commitment was not an easy one, and completing it will not be easy either. But, this commitment and eventually accomplishment is more than raising money and running.
As a member of the surrounding Boston community I know that our youth is our future. Any action we, as individuals or as a group, can take to strengthen the minds, bodies, and souls of our youth is critical in laying the pathway for a more successful future. For ourselves, for them, and for generations to come.
As a spectator in the block of the second bombing 2 years ago, by participating in the Boston Marathon I believe I am confirming and strengthening Boston’s mission to prove to ourselves and the world that we are strong. And we will not be defeated.
And lastly, I am proving to myself that I can take a risk, take a leap, and end up at the finish line successful and a more enriched individual.
All this being said, I tried to make it short, any contribution is so appreciated! I need your help, I can’t do it alone! I love you all!
