"My country is the world, and my religion is to do good." -Thomas Paine This is my favorite historical quote which I believe resonates now possibly more than ever. On the morning of Super Bowl Sunday I will be running for the refugees. The Integrated Refugee & Immigrant Services (IRIS) will be having their 9th annual Run for the Refugees on February 7th, 2016 at East Rock Park in New Haven, CT. It will start at Wilbur Cross High School. My maternal grandmother passed away at the age of 92 a couple months back. She was an immigrant from Italy as was my paternal grandmother. All four of her daughters and one of her grandsons matriculated at Wilbur Cross. This cause means a lot to me, as I'm sure it does to those who this will benefit. I am setting up this page to ask my friends, family and any other supporters to donate $10 to this worthy cause, (more than that will be accepted of course). Not only to set an example, but to help those who are truly in need. To quote from their website, "IRIS helps hundreds of people each year as they start their lives over by meeting their basic needs of housing, food, and clothing. We also prepare refugees for independence through English classes, access to health care, help getting a job and children's educational programs." By the way, as some of you may already know, I am the child of educators. Please visit their site at www.irisct.org for more information and please support me. Give 10 for them.
