BENEFITING: ALTERNATIVE HEALTHCARE ACCESS CAMPAIGN
EVENT DATE: Jun 02, 2014
We're Allie, Lydia, and Jenna, three 1st year Naturopathic medical students at Bastyr University. We volunteer with a local organization, AHAC (Alternative Healthcare Access Campaign) which is an organization that works to provide integrative healthcare such as acupuncture, massage, and naturopathic medicine to homeless communities such as Tent City in Seattle. In order to be great physicians, it is important to understand what it is like to be in the shoes of our patients. Tent City is a tent community that provides a free, safe place to live for low income individuals. To raise awareness for homelessness and equal access to healthcare, we have challenged ourselves to live in a tent for 5 days, (free of luxuries such as cell phones, showers, transportation, and microwaves, etc) as the residents of Tent City do. Please support us and consider donating to our fundraiser, as 100% of the proceeds will buy the much needed medical equipment that will help us provide healthcare to the residents of Tent City.
