Ainsley's Angels is thrilled to help ensure Terri can soon roll with the wind, go camping with her family, and enjoy select exercise and hiking routines!
With your generosity, we are certain this can happen soon! As the father of two very special girls that race together with me, I know that the positive energy surrounding the start line, the togetherness of every member preparing to "roll with the wind", the fearlessness of the athletes, the normalcy of the family, and the love we all have for each other is a therapy like no other.
A message from Terri's family:
Having a Freedom Push Chair will mean that Terri, age 27, will once again be able to join her mom and dad on walks and runs on trails and paths of Western Washington. If the Push chair works out for regular exercise routines, her parents intend to push the limits and take her to the Dosewallips Campground this summer! As Terri's youngest brother Andy enters his senior year of High School, and brother Max is away at college, the Freedom Chair will allow Terri to join her parents on select outdoor hikes and exercise routines. Terri has global hypotonia and first walked at age 3, so while she does walk every day, she tires by mid-afternoon and is rarely "in the mood" when an afternoon or evening walk comes into play for her parents. Many a time, her refusals have interfered with her inclusion in family outings involving walking or hiking, but in the past she has always been up "for a free ride"! In recent years the only feasible "work around" has been for her parents to exercise separately. As this summer approaches, we look forward to being able to perform outdoor activities as a family once again. Terri cannot run, so having the chair will also mean she will be able to join her parents on trail runs. For her first 10 years of life, when Terri fit in her jogging stroller, she used to love going on walks and runs in it, ...then she outgrew it!!! We look forward to re-including Terri into our outdoor exercise routines, and so does she!!! Go Terri!!
