Terry Dunivon wrote -Background-
Since 1992, my dad, Terry Dunivon has been involved in Children’s Ministries, teaching the gospel to children of all backgrounds and nationalities. His unique and engaging way of presenting the word to kids is a true gift. I grew up spending my Saturday afternoons as my dad and his dedicated team brought in busloads of kids from the Lansing area housing projects into Mount Hope Church. There, they would hear a message, play some fun games and leave with a little more hope than what they came in with, a smile on their face and the recognition that someone cared about them. His love for people, especially those from different cultures, continued as he became involved with Trinity Church’s International Program. He quickly befriended many people from all over the world who urged him to “come to my country, come visit!”, they encouraged him to come to their country, to bring his children’s ministry with him.
He was provided an opportunity, when in 2004 he traveled with Trinity Church to Nairobi, Kenya to teach at an Elementary school in the slums outside of the city. The trip validated his love and yearning to be involved with blessing the people of Africa with God’s word and to be active in showing love and kindness by hands on work.
His mission is to continue this work.
“I want to bless the children, to visit believers there and inspire, encourage and instruct them how to minister gospel to children”
Terry is planning a trip to Ethiopia in February 2013, with an organization called Bless the Children International (www.blessingthechildren.org) . A non-profit with a primary focus is the ministry to orphans and widows in Ethiopia, at the Adana Children Center.
“Founded in 2001 to work with orphans and impoverished children; our passion is ministering to the physical, mental, social and spiritual needs of children”
Donations are being accepted towards airfare to Ethiopia and to help him get there.
Also accepted; prayers and encouragement for Terry as he embarks upon this mission, support and awareness of this cause.
