Janet Minter's Fundraiser:

Terry's Transplant Experience At Duke University

This fundraiser is for my husband, Terry Minter, who is receiving treatment with chemotherapy and " Autologous Stem Cell Transplant " at Duke University in North Carolina. He had Hodgkins Lymphoma diagnosed 11/2014 and underwent 6months of chemotherapy for that. Then, December of 2015 found an enlarged lymph node in his neck that was biopsied and diagnosed as Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. We were referred to Hematological Malignancies Physicians here at Duke who have linked the 2 Lymphomas and are treating his cancer as "refractory", or recurring. For this reason the chemotherapy this time is more aggressive and is requiring the Stem Cell Transplant. We are requesting fund raising assistance to help us with lodging in Durham...all preliminary travel, lodging, meal assistance but mainly with the lodging and expenses incurred for his 6 day in patient chemo where I will have already moved into our temporary lodging. We will actually live in Durham in an apartment or extended stay facility for 4-6 weeks, which is a conservative estimate. The apartment complex contacted with Duke is about $84.00 per day and has no shuttle service. He will have to be making trips to hospital facility 1-2 times daily for treatments such as transfusions, injections, hydration, bloodwork, etc. There will be parking fees for all those visits. The major large anticipated expense will be outpatient medication expenses not covered by Medicare Part B or by Terry's Medicare RX supplement. He will be on expensive antivirals, antifungals, antibiotics, etc. For these reasons and expenses we are requesting assistance to meet these needs. Financially at this point we are having to put all expenses daily on a credit card. The limit on this card will not be enough, I'm afraid, to cover our expenses through the upcoming procedures and processes. As you can imagine, it's awkward to ask for financial help. The alternative though, stressing and worrying over how to manage paying for major expenses such as these, is difficult and comes with feelings of guilt and doom over financial uncertainties. Any gift of financial help we would consider a blessing and it would be appreciated with all our hearts. Many thanks! Jan and Terry Minter
