BENEFITING: Florence For Youth In Action
The Project Uganda-SA service learning team is raising funds for Florence for Youth In Action. Their goal is to sponsor TEN orphan students to attend school in Uganda. When they reach their goal, they will be able to send five students to primary school and five youth to vocational school.
Project Uganda-SA is a service learning team made up of ten sixth grade students in Santa Monica, California. These students have spent the last several months researching the issue of education in Uganda and the organizations addressing these issues. They also traveled to Washington D.C. and advocated for this cause in front of policymakers, nonprofit leaders, government agencies and the Ugandan Embassy.
The Project Uganda-SA service learning team chose Florence for Youth in Action because the students were inspired by its mission and the desire to help fellow children half way around the world get an education. The students decided to hold a ”virtual lemonade stand” to incorporate online fundraising technology to their efforts.
The tier of donations are as follows:
$20 – Provides hot meals for a student for a month
$50 – Provides a uniform for a student
$100 - Provides hot meals for five students for a month
$250 – Will sponsor one child for one year to attend primary school. The sponsorship covers school fees, uniform and hot meal everyday.
$350 – Will sponsor one youth for one semester to attend vocational school. This sponsorship provides a youth with a professional skill and hope for a bright future.
Florence for Youth in Action is “Providing Hope through Education”
Project Uganda-SA would like to encourage you to "purchase a cup of virtual lemonade" and help sponsor a child’s education. By providing an opportunity for a child to learn, you are providing hope for a brighter future.
