Texas Water Protector
Organized by: bryan parras
On December 30th, over two dozen Water Protectors with the Society of Native Nations, of which I am a member, and the Big Bend Defense Coalition opened the Two Rivers Camp.
The camp has been named “Two Rivers Camp”, known as “La Junta de Los Rios” by the local native communities including the Jumano Apache and Conchos peoples.
The Big Bend Defense Coalition and the Society of Native Nations hope that with help from Water Protectors from Standing Rock and all over the nation, we can block the Trans Pecos Pipeline.
The camp borders the Big Bend State Ranch. Two Rivers Camp is a native led, peaceful camp whose purpose is greater than just stopping construction of the Trans Pecos Pipeline.
Through our camp we hope to raise greater awareness of indigenous teachings, the environment both locally and globally, and human rights as well as strengthen our solidarity as people of this nation. When we come together with purpose and respect, we empower ourselves and one another.
