Health issues 3,000 miles away affects us here in the U.S.! However, solutions used in other countries could give us ideas to use here locally! We seek to help our global neighbors at the local level (community-level) AND learn from their experts how we can make a difference - at home and abroad.

The Texas A&M University One Health: SeneGambia Project has 15 students, led by two faculty, going to Senegal and The Gambia. We will be learning from their experts about strategies to help deal with community-health issues they face. We will learn about these from their physicians, public health, nutrition and agriculture professionals.

HOWEVER, we will also be going into communities in need of help! The people in these places seek basic help - things that would prevent them from needing medical care! Examples are mosquito nets to prevent malaria and other insect-borne diseases, a means to keep supplies clean/sterile, basic hygiene supplies and more.

We want to be able to provide these communities with assistance and some relief. We want them to believe that we're not just coming in to see their suffering as an academic exercise. We want to make a difference!

PLEASE help us! Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a difference.

The faculty on this trip will not use ANY of the monies for their travel/supplies. It is already covered.

Expenses for the students can be covered through scholarships and grants that most have already received. So this is not merely an attempt to raise money to send students on a vacation!

The monies raised will go into a "fund-raising" account dedicated to this project, and administered by Texas A&M University. That means project participants cannot simply spend the money on stuff for themselves, as they will be subject to the same audits and accounting controls as any other 501c(3).

PLEASE contribute! You can indicate if you wish your monies to be spent only for specifically named items (e.g., nets ONLY, food ONLY) for SeneGambia, or if you are trust us to spend as we determine is needed (including contributing toward travel for students who need a little help).

Note, however, that funds raised here can ONLY be spent on the Texas A&M TCHER One Health SeneGambia Global Local Health Project and nothing else.
