The Story

EVENT DATE: May 11, 2016

On Wednesday, May 11 athletes racing IRONMAN Texas and volunteers will help rebuild flood-damaged homes with nonprofit partners Race2Rebuild and Rebuilding Together Houston with support provided by Bank of America and the IRONMAN Foundation.

Volunteers of all skill levels will assist with multiple flood recovery projects, including the homes of Miss Bernadine, an elderly and disabled homeowner, and Miss Rozena, an 80 year-old widow who until very recently was living without running water. Both homes had excessive damage from the Memorial Day floods of 2015, which was further compounded by the flooding last month. Repairs will allow them to live safely in their homes for years to come. On May 14, we will Race2Rebuild at IRONMAN® Texas North American Championship in The Woodlands, TX.

Every dollar, every mile helps create tangible change in communities recovering from disaster. Our finish line is a safe and healthy home for every family that is struggling to rebuild. Together we can move this forward. Together we Race2Rebuild.

Race2Rebuild creates tangible change to our communities following natural disasters by supporting and participating in rebuilding projects and bringing families home. Founded in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, Race2Rebuild’s national team of volunteer athletes raise critical private funds and provide hands-on home building to support projects across the country. Race2Rebuild serves as an important frontline advocate to its national rebuilding partners and an essential link to the families whose homes it helps to rebuild. We believe in safe, strong, healthy communities for all. Follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and visit us at www.race2rebuild.org. Race hard. Race with resolve. Race2Rebuild.
