Ruth White wrote -In memory of Shannon Tavarez, 11 year old Star of Disney's The Lion King On Broadway who died of a leukemia that Mixed Heritage young people of all skin colors are dying from simply because there are not enough mixed heritage people or people of color who are doing swabs for a cure through the National Marrow Donor Program.
There is a major event for Shannon and we are launching a number of fundraisers to achieve the goals of going around the country getting swabs to put in the donor bank and to also help with hospital bills of family members who are falling victim to picking up the pieces of the cost of trying to get help for someone who has this disease. We are bringing awareness to Shannon in a number of ways.
* Texting for a cure (or Shannon's Cure), all of the people who text on their cells phones to do a $5.00 or more donation for a cure.
* Flashmob for a cure (sending purple balloons up at the same time across the country in memory of Shannon
* Creating Shannon's eternal Flame Award to be given to those celebrities who have taken a public stance
* Tea Party vs Hollywood Tennis Challenge For A Cure ( to bring Hollywood and The Tea Party Movement Together for a good cause)
