THE STORY:

Jeffrey Oram wrote -

2011 was a great year. And it also sucked. Badly. For example:

I ran the 2011 Napa Valley Marathon, with a goal of finishing in under 3 hours. My training was on target to "easily" accomplish this goal until injury set in (I'll talk about this soon on the blog), and I ended up running the race in the pouring rain and wind on a bum knee. Let's just put it this way: the day before the race I couldn't even jog one block without stopping and crying because of the pain. But I raced. And finished in 3:22:44.

What kept me going? Because I severely hate hate HATE cancer (I can't say it enough. HATE!). And it took a friend of mine earlier in 2011. I was running this race not for me, but like all of my races for the rest of 2011 it was a fundraiser in my friend's memory. Not finishing was not even an option.

The beneficiary of that fundraising effort was the Sarcoma Foundation of America - and they will ALWAYS be on the list of any fundraising activity I pursue. They are truly good people, and doing everything they can to obliterate the form of cancer that took our friend away from us. Their mission:
"To advocate for sarcoma patients by funding research and by increasing awareness about the disease. The organization raises money to privately fund grants for sarcoma researchers and conducts education and advocacy efforts on behalf of sarcoma patients."

Help the Sarcoma Foundation of America accomplish their goals. And stand up to the scourge of cancer.
