Earlier this year I set a personal goal of running a full marathon. To me, this was one of those "gotta do it once" sort of events.
As my training continued through the spring, Niki and I dealt with a series of issues with Madden's health, and to my wife's credit took action and began to see specialists to figure out what was wrong.
Only 8 weeks ago Madden was diagnosed with Celiac Disease, something that he can live with but something that has changed all of our lives this summer. With the diagnosis and his new diet Madden is happier and healthier (and gaining weight daily it seems!) than ever.
As Niki and I continue to learn about Celiac, I was approached with the opportunity to run the NYC Marathon and at the same time raise money for a new and important cause - The Celiac Disease Foundation. As a former NY resident, this was an opportunity I couldn't pass up.
I hope you will consider financial support of our efforts as well as the important work of the Celiac Foundation. Madden has been lucky and is now thriving, but other kids still need help and support in leading healthy, productive lives. Your donation will go towards research and medical research as well as support and resources for kids living with Celiac.
See you at the Finish Line!
