BENEFITING: CELIAC DISEASE FOUNDATION
ORGANIZER: CELIAC DISEASE FOUNDATION
EVENT DATE: Nov 03, 2013
Dear Friends & Family,
I'm super excited to share some news. I'm preparing for my 3rd marathon this year and have my mind set on running the ING New York City Marathon, November 3rd.
"I'm adding meaning to my miles," and running for the Celiac Disease Foundation with a special young friend in mind, Quinn Delorme. Quinn has celiac disease and faces many medical, dietary and emotional challenges - always with a super-positive attitude. She is such a special young lady, and I could not refuse her suggestion to run to raise money for the CDF TEAM gluten-free™.
The vast majority of people with celiac disease (83%) are NOT diagnosed. The 17% who are, often suffer 6 years or more before being properly diagnosed. Celiac disease is NOT a rare disease. About one percent of all people are believed to have it and up to 1/3 of us have the genetic marker. The ONLY treatment for celiac disease is strict adherence to a gluten-free diet. There is no pill, no procedure...
