BENEFITING: The Breast Cancer Research Foundation
EVENT DATE: Nov 01, 2015
One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women. Breast cancer is the second leading cause of death among women. Each year it is estimated that over 220,000 women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer and more than 40,000 will die. When I was 10 my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer and it began her transformation (for those that know her) into the woman she is today. The awareness and prevention of this disease should be worldwide and it should be on par with smallpox as something that we've taken seriously enough to eradicate from our society. If we can get seeds out of watermelons, we can get cancer out of breast. I'm running the TCS New York Marathon and would like to raise $5000 to raise money to provide free screenings, mammograms, education and research.
