Help us give 150 needy families a Thanksgiving this year.
The woman was tired. She had just given birth to her third child a few weeks ago, there wasn’t enough food in the house and she had nearly exhausted all the local pantries. But here, now, on a crisp November day in Dorchester at United Way’s annual Thanksgiving distribution, she found a lifeline. As she took the bag from the volunteer--a bag bursting with enough food to feed a family for a week--she remarked: “I am just so grateful. This is coming at the right time for us.”
For just $40 you can give a family a gift that is more than food, more than a meal, even more than a kind action on a cold day. You can give hope.
Last year, over 5,000 families from 10 communities received bags filled with turkeys, stuffing, cranberry sauce mix, vegetables and other non-perishables. Nearly 500 volunteers joined together to fill the bags and distribute food. Over 20,000 people were reached and over 150,000 pounds of food was given to those who need it most.
