When Joseph was just 5 years old, he was diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
Imagine hearing the doctor say things like “heart failure” and “loss of ambulation” and “may live into his twenties” when explaining the diagnosis. Imagine your son in the school cafeteria. While his friends are eating and talking, he is struggling. Struggling to lift a bottle of water to take a drink. Struggling to use his fork. Imagine your son watching his friends play catch. You see the pain and sadness in his face as he knows he cannot stand, let alone pick up a baseball and throw it to his buddies.
THAT IS NOT OK.
Duchenne is a devastating disease that progressively robs boys of the use of their legs, arms and eventually, their heart and lungs. Thanks to caring people like you, we are making progress with research. But, time is not on our side. Now, more than ever, we need your gift to help accelerate cutting-edge research to find a treatment for Joseph, and for future generations of sons, brothers, grandsons, uncles, nephews and best friends with Duchenne.
When you make a gift, you’re giving hope. Hope for boys like Joseph to play baseball with their friends. Hope to go to college. Hope for a cure.
