THE STORY:

This past summer I was invited to the ‘Global Youth Peace Summit’ hosted by The Amala Foundation in Austin,Texas. This was my first ever summit but I just knew i would have the time of my life. I was able to join youth from all over the world in one place and learn about different countries who all came together for one cause: PEACE! I honestly can say my perspective has shifted in a lot of ways after witnessing the powerful relationships built at the summit in just one week. Following the summit, my experience got even better when I had the opportunity to be involved with the 'One Village Music Project’. I spent a second week with the youth of the summit to write, record and create music. Surrounded by all natural sounds, all live instruments I was in paradise. We recorded an album with 15 tracks in one week, and I got to have my voice and my flows support the stories and songs of teens with all kinds of backgrounds. For example, I co-created a song with a young woman from Rwanda, Africa. She had the most powerful story and I saw her drop tears while she was trying to tell it. Her strength really resonated with something within me - inspiring me to write her story as the flow within the song. That song has become the first song on the new One Village Music Project CD and I am most proud of all the songs we wrote. I was moved as an artist while I was helping these young teens to share their story. That is Peace. The Amala Foundation will be hosting a GYPS and OVMP in Maru, Kenya this fall and they have invited me to be a part of their team! I am writing out to you because I need your help to get there and my goal is to reach $2,500. There is a strong desire within me that wants to serve, an urge to be a leader, and to sincerely give back. I want to deliver the wisdom that has been dropped upon my by my community. So I am reaching out. By supporting me on this journey you are supporting Austin. I know that the work I do with The Young Artists Project and all of my future will be changed as a result of being a part of this trip to Kenya. By making my dream a reality, you are helping to serve every youth I serve through the continued work I do throughout the rest of my life. I wrote this rap to show what this all means to me: "Too many times I'm falling short not budgeting my pennies or handling my business. At the end of the day I can't even buy no spinach -real stress - There is a difference doing what you want vs doing what you need in order to feel some sort of relief. Loving myself and most importantly amateur rappers little boys to me- from boy to man I GREW instantly! now I gotta grind for my seed, I am gon raise a black Queen! shout out to Killer Queen Bee! Moms, I know what you done for me - sacrificing unknowingly. She dropped the ball on her parenting. Soon as I thought I was grown, she said “ Go see what the world can bring!" Can't say I have yet to receive credit from being at eased, good people going to feel your heart, good people gone feel Ya #steez, yo what it cost?" -Chiclopz/MDK
