EVENT DATE: Oct 15, 2016
The mission of The Center for Sexual Assault Crisis Counseling and Education (The Center) is to provide counseling and support services to victims of sexual assault and to eliminate sexual violence through community-wide prevention education programs.
Founded over 30 years ago in 1979, The Center began its operation in a trailer behind Stamford Hospital to provide crisis intervention and support services to rape victims who were brought into the emergency room. As the demand for services grew, the prevention education component was added to the agency’s services in 2001.
The Center is the only agency providing free and confidential services to victims of sexual assault in the eight towns of Lower Fairfield County; Darien, Greenwich, New Canaan, Norwalk, Stamford, Weston, Westport and Wilton. All of our services are available in English and Spanish. We provide a 24-hour sexual assault hotline as well as crisis counseling, and advocacy services.
We also provide sexual violence prevention education, to children ages Pre-K through 12th grade, college age, parents, teachers, social workers, police officers, professionals and the community at large. For the fiscal year ended June 30, 2016, we have served over 17,000 individuals with our programs.
Our Wish? A world free from sexual violence.
