Our organization, The Climate Registry (TCR) plays an important role in the worldwide effort to reduce global warming by providing governments and corporations with the guidance, tools and technology necessary to measure and manage its root cause: greenhouse gases (GHGs).
As public- and private-sector actors seek to cut their global-warming emissions, they must first understand the sources and scope of their emissions and identify the greatest opportunities for reductions. Herein lies the challenge. Facility-level emissions data is often inconsistent, disaggregated, or simply does not exist. This makes it challenging for governments to make informed policy and for organizations to track and reach carbon reduction goals, particularly in the face of U.S. federal inaction. The high-quality emissions data provided by TCR allows organizations to ACT: 1. Account for their GHG emissions over time
2. Confirm that their efforts to reduce GHG emissions are really working
3. Transform operations and practices to achieve additional reductions of GHG emissions
TCR believes that by empowering organizations with data, they can take action to manage and mitigate their emissions. Our members have seen average reductions of 20% in their first five years of reporting by implementing existing approaches in new found opportunities.
