THANK YOU DONORS and FARRAH FANS
October 28, 2016
BENEFITING: The Farrah Fawcett Foundation
EVENT DATE: Sep 14, 2016
American Icon and actress, Farrah Fawcett, was moved to create this foundation after she was first diagnosed with anal cancer in 2006. Her vision was to make a difference in the fight against cancer. But, she never had the chance to be involved herself, as she passed away in 2009 from the disease. The Farrah Fawcett Foundation is committed to carrying out her vision.
HPV is a virus responsible for anal, cervical, and oral cancers among others. 30,000 people are diagnosed annually in the US with an HPV- related cancer. The virus is responsible for 5% of the world's cancers. The FFF's mission is to support cutting edge research on all HPV-related cancers, which often don't get attenton when it comes to funding for research. This is a question that Farrah asked in her cancer documentary - Farrah's Story, "Why isn't there more research on certain types of cancer?" Since then, we have created the first HPV cancer research team with Stand Up To Cancer which is now close to clinical trial at The Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
Other research partners include Brown University, Duke, UCLA, and MD Anderson. We also support prevention and awareness programs as well as the FF patient assistance funds, currently at seven cancers centers nationally, to help those in financial need.
Farrah really wanted to make a difference in this fight, please help us do that. For more information on what we do, go to our website or check us out on Facebook.
