Not far from my halfway mark!
September 11, 2016
In late 1997 my Mother was diagnosed with Colon Cancer and other health issues. After spending months in the hospital, the doctor thought that it would be in her best interest to go to a rehabilitation facility for a few weeks before coming home in order to rebuild her strength. Shortly after Mom was checked into the facility in 1998, I received a call that she had passed away due to the colon cancer. Here we are in the year of 2016 & I found out that her cause of death was NOT colon cancer but instead, it was from neglect due to the staff not suctioning her (She had a tracheotomy). I can't bring my mother back to life but I can bring awareness of nursing home abuse & neglect which happens more than we realize. In my fight to raise awareness, I have written and have started producing a movie about the issue. People need to understand that this senseless act is real. The name of the movie is called "Room 1103"...My Mother's birthday was 11/03. The release date of the movie will be February, 09, 2017 which is the date that she passed away in 1998. My cast & crew are from South Florida, Georgia & North Carolina & they believe in my vision and for that I am grateful. I created this campaign, because many people were asking how they can support. I'm willing to give this fundraiser a try & in the event that this campaign is not a success, "Room 1103" will still make it to the screen. To those who support & believe in my vision, I would like to thank you in advance. Lizz Goins-Turner
