Hello family, friends, and generous acquaintances:
As some of you may know, when I was little I played baseball. I actually ended up playing most sports since my mom figured one would have to click eventually. None ever did, but I suffered through since 10 year old me figured it would be easier than being like I don't like sports and I do like boys. But anyway, baseball. So this one time I was up to bat and the count was 3-0 (which was a big deal because I almost never got on base) but then the next three pitches were strikes and I struck out. As I was walking back to the bench the catcher was like "wow you suck." And then I cried.
I tell you this because I think it is important context for the journey I'm about to embark on and also because I am not above fundraising via pity. I, Jason Rubin, will be running the NYC marathon on November 5th and I need your help. I'm running for an awesome charity called the Fresh Air Fund. They provide kids in low income communities in the city with free summer experiences in the country. Professional educator, Erica Rubin, worked there for a few summers and can attest to the great work that they do. If you would like to contribute to the Fresh Air Fund and/or support my blossoming athleticism you can do so here. Love you all. Thank you!
