BENEFITING: Home Front Cares
I have been fortunate enough to receive so much from being a military dependent and I just wanted a way to give my thanks and show my appreciation. I chose THFC because this charity supports all branches of the military, including Reservists, the Colorado National Guard, and veterans. It is an honorable and noteworthy cause and I truly believe in the mission they are trying to accomplish. The amount I am trying to raise is $500.00. The minimum amount for donation is $10.00. The Home Front Cares (THFC) which was founded in 2003 as an all-volunteer initiative led by two retired Air Force colonels, Bob Carlone and Joe Henjum. THFC are a local Colorado organization which provides emergency grants that pay essential life expenses like rent, utilities and car repairs. They serve all of Colorado, and have strong partnerships throughout the state with other non-profit and referral agencies, military installations, the VA and other veteran service organizations.
They also provide referral services to many of these agencies, ensuring our clients receive financial, family and emotional counseling and services, even when they do not qualify for our financial support. In the majority of cases, THFC pays the creditors, such as the landlord or utility company, directly.
Despite this due diligence, THFC are structured to act fast. Many of the grants are approved in less than 24 hours—an essential capability because quite often, our aid is the last "save" that keeps a veteran from being evicted or a military family from having their power turned off. THFC has grown into a statewide agency serving all branches of the U.S. military, including Reservists and the Colorado National Guard. In 2015, nearly 100% of our clients were veterans now separated from the service.
