BENEFITING: HUMANE SOCIETY OF OCEAN CITY INC
EVENT DATE: Apr 18, 2017
The Humane Society of Ocean City (HSOC) is a no-kill animal welfare organization whose mission is to provide the highest level of compassion and service to our animal friends. Our vision is a community where there are no neglected, homeless, or abused animals.
$.93 of every dollar donated directly benefits the animals in our care! Your donations make a huge difference in what we can do for our homeless animals!
The HSOC provides a variety of services that benefit homeless animals and the community! Here's what we do:
1.) Provide homeless cat and dogs with a second chance at a new life through our adoption services. All animals in our care stay with us until they are adopted, or become permanent residents. All cats and dogs recieve comprehensive veterinary care, a safe comfortable environment, nutritious food, and plenty of love and attention from staff and volunteers while they wait for their new home!
2.) Provide exceptional low-cost veterinary care through our Vet Center for the community at large! The HSOC Vet center also provides low-cost spay/neuter surgeries, as well as wellness visits, and services such as dental cleanings.
3.) Provide Animal Control services for the island of Ocean City so the residents and wildlife co-exist safely together! Last year we saved 34 animals from deadly situations and nursed them back to health at our Veterinary Center!
4.) We provide free humane education to the public! Last year we provided more than 600 students with humane education programs through schools and organizations.
Your support will help animals like Roscoe, who we rescued from a dog fighting situation. Roscoe wants to tell you his story...
Hi! I’m Roscoe, and I live at The Humane Society of Ocean City. I hear lots of people say, “Wow- what a big boy!” and I am. I hear that I’m one of those giant breeds…a Cane Corso. Some people are actually afraid of me because I’m so big, but you know what? I think some people are kind of scary. Like the people who chained me up all alone in the cold, dark garage and wanted to make me fight. I tried to tell them - I’m a lover, not a fighter, and then somehow after a while, it all just worked out. Some nice person came and took me to The HSOC. I have a fancy bed that makes my hips feel better, and I had lots of blankets too…but then I ate them so my buddy George doesn’t let me have them anymore. But George, Ryan and my friends give me lots of attention. These are my people. And I get to stay here because they gave me a chance. Although I’d love to be in a home, my friends and I understand that with my all medical stuff that Dr. Julie does for me (she’s cool but she keeps telling me to lay off the treats), and the type of home I need to be in, there aren’t many homes out there for me. So if by chance I get MY chance, my friends will be really happy for me. But in the meantime, I’m our shelter mascot and that makes me really cool and special. I’d really appreciate it if you’d be willing to help out my friends at the shelter and leave something called a donation. Whatever that is, they say it really helps. And because they take such great care of me, I want to help them too. So, can you help them for me? I’ll give you a big sloppy kiss if you do!
