BENEFITING: JOHN RITTER FOUNDATION FOR AORTIC HEALTH
ORGANIZER: JOHN RITTER FOUNDATION FOR AORTIC HEALTH
As a practicing vascular surgeon in Charlotte, North Carolina, I have made a career of helping to identify, treat and educate patients on vascular disease. As an avid runner and triathelete, I understand the importance of having a healthy vascular system; however, many Americans don't completely understand the debilitating and dangerous consequences of aortic disease. When approached about the opportunity to represent The John Ritter Foundation in the 2017 TCS New York City Marathon, it seemed to be a perfect opportunity to both raise awareness and financial support for this great cause. Like most everything in our lives, things take on a far deeper meeting when it involves family. For me, the support of The John Ritter Foundation is important personally because my family has a history of aortic disease. Knowing this, I have spent my career focusing my passion for treating aortic disease into publishing, device development, R&D and even development of an Aortic Center of Excellence at my institution. By partnering with The John Ritter Foundation, I now have the unique opportunity in my life to "pursue my passion" of aortic disease in both the literal and figurative sense. Running in the 2017 TCS New York City Marathon for someone who may not have had the opportunity or a family member who has lost someone to aortic disease is as compelling to me as being able to treat a patient clinically. It is with hope and determination that I humbly pursue this goal on the behalf of my patients, my peers and the members of The John Ritter Foundation for Aortic Health.
A heartfelt thank you to each of you who have pledged in support of me for The John Ritter Foundation and God bless.
