BENEFITING: What About The Children Inc
Our fundraiser is a unique one that provides a tangible and emotional need for our children in the foster care community. Our Journey Bag Project offers kids from ages 12 months to 18 years of age in the foster care community with a backpack of items for daily survival for example personal hygiene products, a journal, bible, baby care items, pajamas, socks, under garments, books, and more. Just imagine for a moment that you are child and you must leave everything you know to go live in a whole new environment with people you don't or barely even know and all you should carry with you is a garbage back filled with your clothes, shoes, and maybe a toothbrush. Too many times this has happened and a child could gain the impression that he or her is being tossed away when the people there are only trying to help provide a safe environment for them, because their current environment has become too unstable for the child to live. Our founder Carolyn Drayton has seen this one too many times and she made a decision. She decided to start a non-profit organization that would cater to the children in the foster care community as well as provide programs and services that will help our children during this transitional process. Our children are honestly our future and we cannot forget about the children in the foster care community. Our journey bag is the first step in offering a gesture of love and kindness in a traumatic situation. Also, I want you to think about a young man or young woman who reached the age of 18 and is now being aged out of the foster care system with hardly anything with little to know funds to start their life with. Our journey bag will at least provide them with the necessities to get started in like and encouraging words to help keep them mentally and spiritually uplifted during their transitional phase out of the foster care system. What About The Children feels that it’s our responsibility to provide as much help possible for our foster children. Please help us with providing that first offering of loving kindness by donating to our Journey Bag Project. We whole heartedly appreciate your support!
