BENEFITING: JUNIOR LEAGUE OF THE CITY OF NEW YORK INC
ORGANIZER: JUNIOR LEAGUE OF THE CITY OF NEW YORK INC
As an inaugural #TeamNYJL 2015 member and an incoming co-chair of the Astor House Events Committee, I could not be more excited to be a member of #TeamNYJL2017 for the second time, supporting this organization that is near-and-dear to my heart! Especially as this fundraising effort has such a huge impact on the League’s community endeavors (read more about that effect below!).
But fundraising will also be so beneficial to me. Marathons are exhausting endeavors – obviously in a physical sense, but maybe even more so in a mental and emotional sense. With your donation, you will also become my community of support, my shoulder to lean on during this third marathon effort! The NYC Marathon is beast and my feet will be flying over the hills and bridges with purpose and support!
I joined the Junior League of New York in the Fall of 2013 with the hopes of finding an outlet for my desire to volunteer for a charitable purpose. Ideally, I thought, maybe I would also make a few friends, learn a few skills, or develop a few professional connections. And what a decision! The League has completely exceeded my expectations! I've made wonderful friends, networked with inspiring women who are leaders in their fields, and improved my leadership skills by attending super-informative training sessions.
But most importantly, I can truly feel how the League's efforts have a massive impact on the New York City community.
Just to name a few:
-With $50, the NYJL can buy art supplies for an evening of mentoring with young students at the Stanley Isaacs Center.
-$100 will help a runaway teenager acquire the basic clothing needed when he or she arrives at a shelter.
-With a donation of $300, the NYJL can provide a kit of kitchen supplies to a community partner enabling underprivileged families to cook healthy meals.
I’ll be sharing more of this facts as the season goes on, but I hope you will support me in assisting the Junior League's awesome community efforts across New York City.
The New York Junior League (NYJL) is an organization of women committed to promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women, and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable. We have more than 2,600 volunteers - of all races, religions, and ethnicities - who donate more than 250,000 hours of service in the NYC community every year. We train volunteers to develop skills for community work, to serve on boards, and to be leaders.
