BENEFITING: Kawasaki Disease Foundation
EVENT DATE: Nov 01, 2016
We are excited to launch our first "More Than Words" Challenge, an online fundraising and awareness campaign for Kawasaki Disease that will start on November 1st, 2016 and will end at midnight PST on January 26th, 2017(National Kawasaki Disease Awareness Day). Our goal is to raise $26,000 for Kawasaki Disease Foundation initiatives while raising Kawasaki Disease (KD) awareness.
A portion of the funds raised will be donated to Rady Children’s Hospital Foundation - San Diego for Kawasaki disease research and will be matched by the Gordon and Marilyn Macklin Foundation. The Macklin Foundation has challenged Rady Children’s to raise $2.5 million -- to be matched dollar for dollar -- in support of a research agenda focused on three core areas: discovering the cause, creating better diagnostic tests and developing new treatments to protect the heart.
As KD patients, parents, and family members, we can agree that more than words are needed to bring awareness to Kawasaki disease. This challenge is a great opportunity to show the public why "More Than Words" are needed to advance KD awareness and research.
If you accept the challenge, here is how you can help:
1. Sign up for a fundraiser on Crowdrise via "The KDF More Than Words Challenge", and share your fundraising link with your friends, family, and colleagues with a request to donate.
2. Promote KD awareness and raise as much as you can toward the $26,000 goal.
Raise $250: you will automatically be entered for a chance to win Beats Solo2 by Dre Headphones
Raise $500: you will automatically be entered for a chance to win Beats Solo3 Wireless On-Ear Headphones by Dre or a GoPro Hero 5 session camera. (Winner's choice)
The top fundraiser who raises the most donations on Crowdrise by January 26, 2017 can choose their prize of either an Apple Nike Sport Watch or a GoPro Hero5 Black camera
All winners will be announced on January 27th, 2017. So, if you're ready to help us show that more than words are needed head on over to Crowdrise and create your fundraising page. We hope to see you there!
Thanking you in advance for your support,
Your friends at the Kawasaki Disease Foundation
