The Kay Yow Cancer Fund is a 5019( c )3 non-profit organization committed to being a part of finding an answer in the fight against women's cancers through raising money for scientific research and related projects, assisting the underserved and unifying people for a common cause.
Coach Kay Yow was a Naismith Hall of Fame women's basketball coach at NC State University for 34 years. Prior to leading the 1988 Olympic team to the gold medal, Coach Yow was diagnosed with breast cancer. Over the next 22 years, she faced 3 recurrences of the disease, all while continuing to coach the game and the players she loved.
In 2007, Coach Yow founded the Kay Yow Cancer Fund as a way to continue to serve others by raising money for research for all women's cancers, assisting the underserved and unifying people for a common cause. To date, the Kay Yow Cancer Fund has awarded over $5.28 million support of all women's cancers.
