THE STORY:

For the last 5 years, I dreamt about running a half-marathon. I knew it's possible, but I always gave myself an excuse not to try. Finally couple of months ago, I made commitment to train for a half-marathon. The big day is for SHAPE Women's Half Marathon on 4/30/17. Running helps me to stay in the moment and I can see clearly what goes on my mind. As I run I notice so many things. I am so grateful for everything I have, my health, my two beautiful kids (although they drive me nuts sometimes), my supportive husband, family, friends and neighbors. Then one day I realized that I needed to get back to community. I am doing what I am doing because of everyone and everything around me. People around me inspires me. My best friend's son Sean whom I adore, lost his best friend last summer with a tragic car accident. This young man's name is Leo. He had every quality you'd want for a man, full potential to succeed in life, yet he left this world too soon. After the tragedy, his parents created foundation called The Leonidas Foundation in honor of his legacy. This young man left significant impact on Sean and many others. Here is what Sean said about this young man: "your life is gonna change, LLY (I love you) Bro was the last text I got from my best friend and a few hours after I would learn he died and a part of me died with him. There are no words that exists that can describe him. He gave when he didn't have, he gave a lending hand from reading to kids, to helping the homeless and most of all he never saw color, race or ethnicity. He saved me in ways no one will ever know and he inspired everyone he came in contact with." I told Sean that I'd dedicate my run to Leo and would like to raise funds for The Leonidas Foundation. Sean also said "When you run, you will be running in honor of equality, inspiration and brotherhood." I was so touched by these words. We all have a power to make differences. Let us unite and make differences. All of your contribution will go directly to the foundation. Now it's my job to finish half-marathon without stopping and walking. Thank you so much!!
