THE STORY:

This is a story that could easily have been lost to history. A story of a promising musician whose career path was totally altered by the course of history. Lev Aronson first lost his beautiful cellos and bows, his blossoming career and eventually 25 members of family during the Holocaust in World War II. Yet Lev Aronson went on to become one of the most famous and influential teachers of his generation. In honor of Mr. Aronson's life, his approach to playing the cello and teaching I began a festival at the Meadows school of the arts at SMU. Lynn Harrell, Ralph Kirshbaum and many more of his most famous students will be there to teach and play recitals to influence the next generation of cellists. Please join us at Meadows School of the Arts at SMU during the month of June in celebrating the music and life of the incredible cello teacher Lev Aronson. Your contribution to the Lev Aronson Legacy makes it possible for us to bring the teaching, life and traditions of the greatest cello teacher that ever lived, Lev Aronson, to a new generation of students. Since its inception in January, 2012, The Lev Aronson Legacy has begun an annual festival that rivals any other educational endeavor in its purpose and scope. We have invited students from all over the globe to experience the life and music of Lev Aronson. This is only possible because of thoughtful contributions from people like you. In 2017-2018 we plan to expand our influence in the educational world and invite many more top-notch students to the festival held at S.M.U. Meadows School for the Arts. We will continue to innovate our approach to teaching our students, including the use long-distance learning and multi-media presentations world-wide. A very important aspect of Mr. Aronson's life was his experiences in the Holocaust, and we plan to bring those stories and experiences to the students attending the festival by attending the Holocaust Museum of Dallas, and taking part in a special tour and presentation about artists in the concentration camps of WW II.
