One Last Update!

EVENT DATE: May 29, 2016
Hi, Miracle Maker!
My name is Lacy Tannous, and I'm a (slighlty reluctant) long-distance runner living in Massachuetts, and I'm a believer in miracles. I'm asking you to join me in believing for a few miracles with me this May, as I complete my very FIRST MARATHON!
Miracle #1: Completing a Marathon:
Yep. That'll be miraculous.
In just a few weeks, I'll be running in the Vermont City Marathon in Burlington, VT. YIKES! It'll be 26.2 miles of sweat, grit, and yes, probably some blisters. Through some cold and rainy training with a great running buddy, I'm up to 20 miles, and feeling stronger with each step.
My running "career" began when I was 13 years old. A woman I deeply respect inspired me and many other kids from my school in Kansas City to Run Across Kansas in support of homeless veterans. Since those days, I've run competitively and recreationally in spurts, but have only raced at the 10K (6.1 mile) level. So, it's no small thing to say that this marathon is a giant step in my running history!
If you're curious about my time goal, it's to finish first and foremost, and hopefully at a 10-minute pace, putting my marathon time at around 4 hours and 36 minutes. Hopefully. ;)
Miracle #2: Building a New Home for L'Arche Boston North:
L'Arche Boston North (formerly L'Arche Irenicon) is the place I worked as an assistant immediately after graduating from Gordon College in 2011. While L'Arche's mission* and the writings of Henri Nouwen initially drew me to the community, the profound experiences of love offered to all regardless of ability continues to compel me to support this wonderful organization.
The L'Arche Boston North community is currently in the process of constructing a new home for core members (adults with disabilities) and assistants (adults sharing life with core members). Building a house is a giant financial undertaking, and while L'Arche has generous donors and some resources at their disposal, funding of various kinds is key to ensuring a beautiful and functional home is constructed without delay.
I wish I could attach a photo of the progress being made on this fantastic home here on CrowdRise! You can find pictures of the house and more information here: www.larchebostonnorth.org
Miracle #3: Leaning on the Village:
I've heard "it takes a village to raise a child", and though it's a new that we're trying to raise, I have seen the incredible impact that many can have on one! I would be honored if you'd consider supporting my race and raising support for L'Arche Boston North.
I'm dreaming big. Like, $5000 big. (I know!) :)
This isn't something I could ever hope to give to L'Arche on my own, but I want to take a leap of faith and see if together we can make an amazing impact on a community I dearly love, and one that continues to impact so many lives for the better, all over the world.
Your donation would mean not only a some extra wind under my wings while I run, but also a lasting legacy of support for an organization doing countercultural work rooted in love, belonging, and hope. SO.
So, are you ready to make this marathon miraculous? :)
I've tried to create a fun way to track the impact your dollar has with each mile of the marathon I run! I call them TEAMS (brilliant, I know!) :) and if 160 people are willing to join in, then WE CAN DO THIS!
We can raise $5000 for L'Arche Boston North!
Here are the 3 teams:
TEAM 13: If you join this team, would you be willing to donate $.50 for every mile that I run? Because...
TOTAL TEAM GOAL: If 100 people giving $13 each ($.50 per mile), that equals $1,300 for L'Arche Boston North!!
TEAM 26: Could you match me one dollar for each mile while I bust my...heels...running this marathon? And here's a little something fun: if you join this team, I'll include your name as one of my "sponsors" on a tank top I'll be wearing while I'm crushing (or being crushed by?) this Vermont City marathon!
TOTAL TEAM GOAL: If 50 people give $26 each ($1 per mile), equals $1,300 for L'Arche Boston North!!
TEAM 260: This team is truly up to the challenge! Would you be willing to give $10 for each breathless mile I complete (minus the extra .2 at the end, which will be the death of me)? If so, then this is the team for you! ;) Not only will I happily add your name to my race day tank top, AND a custom-made art piece sent to you to commemorate your support!
TOTAL TEAM GOAL: 10 people giving $260 each, equals $2600 for L'Arche Boston North! If we pool our resources, we can raise $5,000 for L'Arche's new home!
And hey, if you're not about that team life, or if none of these amounts appeal to your wallet, I'll gladly accept and deeply appreciate ANY donation you're able to make to L'Arche Boston North!
With your support, I can run a little stronger, and L'Arche's new home can stand a little taller!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for considering how you can partner with me to make this marathon a miraculous one! :)
