Below you can find the origin of the charity team, but I'd like to give you a quick synopsis before I explain why I have chosen to run for this team. The NY Police and Fire Widow's and Chidren benefit fund was created to provide support for families of first responders who have given their life in the line of duty. The charity was started to support the families of those who gave their lives to protect others.
Now the why - I come from a family of first responders. I am the son of two retired paramedics, the brother to two EMTs, and friends/family to a number of first responders across all services. The selflessness and bravery that our first responders show on a daily basis is the true definition of a hero. While I have never answered the call to serve, I would like to be able to honor these heroes by ensuring their memories and loved ones are not forgotten. I have chosen to do this by fundraising and running the New York City marathon this November. While this is nowhere near the level of dedication and commitment these men and women have made, it is a token of gratitude.

The mission of the New York Police and Fire Widows’ and Children’s Benefit Fund is to support the families of New York City Police Officers, Firefighters, Port Authority Police, and EMS Personnel who have been killed in the line of duty. When these brave men and women make the ultimate sacrifice to protect our city, we believe it is our civic duty to support the families these heroes have left behind. Our mission is to reassure these families that will never forget them or the sacrifice made by their loved ones. We currently provide annual financial assistance, host special gatherings, and offer a network of support to approximately 600 families. Our goal is to raise enough funds to enable us to increase the annual support we provide to these families.
